Day 1 Corkscrew Hill
The first day of the 2012 Ballyvaughan hills organised by Clare and Galway Motor Clubs was held on the Corkscrew Hill in sunny conditions with a cool breeze.
Limerick Motor Club members entered were Trish Daly in class 1, Denis Hogan and Eanna Carroll in class 3B, Gerard O'Connor in class 5, Paul O'Connell in class 7 and Tony Guerin in class 9
Trish finished 4th in class having recovered from a spin in her Mini on her first timed run of the the five held that day.
Denis was worried about clutch problems at the start of the day, but to his relief his BMW M3 ran perfectily to get him 3rd in class
Eanna was amazed with the difference changing to 17"wheels had made to his Honda Civic netting him second in class
Gerard had failed to get his own Formula Vee running for the weekend so rented a similar car and finished second in class a difficult day with battery problems.
Paul was another dirver with problems. the fuel systemon his Pilbeam caused him to miss 2 of the 5 runs but inspite of that he finished 3rd overall and second in class
Tony returned to motorsport with a 4th in class with his standard production Subaru Impreza.
Day 2 Ballyallaban
Sunday morning bagan with ice on the winscreens of the cars, the day cleared to sunshine.
Paul O'Connell finished third overall in his Pilbeam with only one attempt at the hill before fuel system problems put an end to Paul's day stopping on the second timed run. Denis Hogan finished an excellent seventh overall and and second in class 3B with his BMW M3. Eanna Carroll (Denis's brother in law) broke a CV joint on the first timed run, but was able to continue in the event after Denis allowed him to double drive the M3. Eanna took third in class 3B andtenth overall.
Trish Daly finished third in class 1 and Tony Guerin finished 5th in class 9
Gerard O'Connor marshalled on the hill.
