Class win for Peter Cummins.

The Birr endurance trial was held under blue skies on Sunday 20 October 2019. Wet weather earlier in the week meant all was not perfect on the selectives with very slippy surfaces. This led to a bit of damage to some cars, Peter Cummins who was co driven by Danny McKenna from Monaghan on his passage control visit has the left corner of the back bumper dislodged on his Nissan Micra. The next time though the left rear tail light was demolished and the third time there no more back bumper.
When asked what contributed to his class win he care with the code boards and stop boxes which have one minute penalties. He slowing a little bit to give his co driver a chance to read the code boards paid off as they received no penalties. As well as the class A1 victory Peter finished 11th overall in his 1 liter Micra.
The Tierney father and son crew from Clarina were also quiet pleased with their second ever event. They had raised the ride height a small bit but like the Cummins/McKenna crew they also concentrated on avoiding the code board and stop box penalties during the day picking up only one on the first selective on their was to 10th of 15 finishers in class B and 31st overall.
On the official side of things club member Gerard O'Connor was Competitor Liason Officer this role was busy at the finish but results were final by 19:33. Earlier in the day involved giving assistance with road books and understanding code boards and stop boxes to some crews doing their first event.
