Class wins at Ballyallaban

This years Ballyvaughan hillclimbs have been jointly organised by Clare Motor Club and Galway Motor Club.

Sunday at Ballyallaban brought class wins for Peter Cummins in his Darrian, Eanna Carroll in his turbo Honda Civic and Roland Doherty in his Corsa

Club member Donal Griffin competed on the Corkscrew Saturday. He found the course difficult in his race orientated Reynard 5000cc V8. The poor steering lock did not help on the Corkscrew's tight hairpins and the short nature of ahillclimb did not allow the race tyres to come to up to temperature. Donal finished 11th overall behind winning local driver Sylvie Mullins in his Gould V8. The rougher nature of the Ballyallaban road has led Donal to decide not to compete on Sunday. John Fitzgerald was out in his freshly built BMW M3, he enjoyed his day and now knows what tweeks are needed to make it a truely competitive car.

Former hillclimb champion and club member Paul O'Connell did not compete.
