Podium places for two Limerick crews

Good results for Limerick crews at the Sligo Stages Rally organised by Connacht Motor Club. Keith Lyons and Elaine NíShé finished on the top step in class 2 and 36th overall with their Ford Fiesta R2T.

Sean Liston and Katrina Walsh Liston finished second in class 13R and 22nd overall in the first outing for their rebuilt BMW e30. Katrina said after the event "Finished 2nd in class. Caught a car on stage 7 and when passing them we spun and got stuck in a ditch and needed marshals to push us out, thanks a mill to them! Lost a load of time. Need a front and rear bumper now. Just got through the last two and brought her home to the finish. Tough rally. Fair play to Mickey and Ciaran on a fantastic class win, setting great times all day. Thanks a mill to our sponsors and to McConnell Motorsport for servicing."

Katrina commented earlier in the day "Second loop went well, slippier again than before even. Driving clean and tidy, no major heroics! Stage 4 blocked for a while before us but we got a clean run through it. Wouldn't have minded Kenny McKinstrey's time like all the boys in front though, but we didn't fall down much so not too bad. Have moved up a bit so not catching cars now which is great. That's the problem with seedings. Starter solenoid wire snapped going onto stage 5 but got her going. Bucketed down when we started the stage, lovely! Had an overshoot on it, lost some time. We're enjoying ourselves, Sean's getting more used to the car in the wet, we're not as confident in the wet as in the dry but getting there. Currently second in class and third 2WD. Looking forward to the final loop. Rain's getting even worse so should be interesting!"
